Window Film

Design of the month

Design_Blog-01.jpg

A new addition to our 'Geometric' Design Range ‘Center Quadrant’ works well as a striking feature graphic component within your space but can also tick a few of your privacy requirement boxes as well.

At a large scale and depending on the density of the graphic, this design can act as somewhat of a Privacy screen for a boardroom window but still allows for sections of visibility that, for a small space, doesn't make the room feel closed in, and for a busy office allows your colleagues to see at a glance when the room is occupied.

Gliding through Summer!

Gliding-01.jpg

With Summer coming to a end and Autumn around the corner, we thought we would celebrate the end of season with a new design.

We’ve been noticing natural and light graphics are a growing trend for interior fitouts, with the inspiration of the outdoors coming into working environments to encourage productivity and employee satisfaction. This was the inspiration behind our new addition to the design range called ‘Glide’. Digitally Printing white onto Frost brings out the tiny details that make this design so unique and lifelike.

Be sure to check out our Pinterest page, we are constantly uploading new designs on there every month with the hope it gives you some inspiration for your next project!

Solar Film - so many benefits and it looks good!

Reducing heat and glare are usually two of the main reasons people choose to install Solar Film at their home or office, however did you realise that depending on the film you choose it also adds a bonus level of privacy during the day!

As you can see from the install we did at CHR Hansen, the addition of solar film not only obscures the view from outside during the day but it also gives the building a polished finish with the new reflective surfaces! It’s also worth noting that the view from inside the office has hardly changed but the hidden features of the window that has the film installed include a massive reduction in the percentage of penetrating glare and harmful UV rays.

If your home of office requires needs a facelift, additional privacy or simply a reduction of glare and penetrating UV rays then Contact Us for a free measure and quote!

Striking graphics and entrance signage for Surge Direct

Tint Design’s advanced range of Digital Printing and Signage making services were combined to make this striking reception sign at Surge Direct’s head office.

The impact of this full colour graphic with the use of a fade-out effect onto optically clear film creates a bold statement to clients and employees of Surge Direct. With that being said, full cover graphics can be a striking feature when its printed to either optically clear film, wallpaper or high gloss vinyl and applied to glass or plastered walls.

Along with digital printing, signage can also leave a striking impression on clients and employees. Many of our clients are unaware that Tint Design can produce a range of digital printing, Precision Cut and 3D lettering signage.

While our in-house signage making capabilities are impressive at Tint Design, we also have an extensive network of specialist fabricators that we often work with to produce the best quality signage manufactured to your exact specifications.

A bold facade in the heart of Shepparton

It is with great pride that we can finally share with you one of our larger projects of 2017 - the striking south facade of the brand new Shepparton Law Courts that were officially opened on Friday March 23, 2018 by The Honourable Martin Pakula MP, Attorney-General, in the presence of the Chief Magistrate, His Honour Judge Peter Lauritsen.
It was with great pleasure that Tint Design worked along side ADCO Constructions to realise the extraordinary vision of the south facade that was cleverly designed by the team at Architectus. Of the $73 million dollar project this incredibly detailed facade is the result of many hours of cutting, weeding, application and installation of hundreds of lineal meters of precision cut film to hundreds of square meters of glass.
After an extensive review of the building timeline and access restrictions it was decided that the entirety of this install would take place prior to the glass being installed to the building. The seemingly random placing of the seven different frit-pattern designs had to match their corresponding glass unit but were installed out of order depending on when the units arrived to the warehouse. This installation puzzle was just one element of the many challenges of taking on a project of this size however our production team worked seamlessly and around the clock to bring this one element of this exceptional design to life.

For some time Monash University campuses in Melbourne have undergone some impressive building expansions, modifications and refurbishments and Tint Design has contributed with some eye-catching finishing touches.

Many of the projects we’ve completed across the three campuses have included vibrant full colour wall graphics, printed full cover glass graphics and loads of compliance signage, decal, and privacy band installations.

Three of the projects at the Clayton campus however were of a much larger scale and each required a unique approach to the graphics installation. The external glass facades of the Logan Hall and Holman Hall student residence buildings boast a repeating geometric-patterned design that had to fit together like a puzzle. This was due to the installation of the graphics taking place in the Tint Design Factory before the image was then encapsulated between the double-glazing as it was installed on site. This may not sound too difficult but when you’re talking about 126 very large individual glass panes that weren’t uniform in size and only fabricated in batches, it meant that there was almost a kind of logistical choreography in our factory for the few months of the buildings construction.

The Canopy outside Building 10 was a different story altogether. While we weighed up the multiple options for the graphics install on this project, the chosen and most efficient solution was an on-site install to the underside of the glass once it had been fitted to the frame work. Again, with such a fluid design of intersecting diagonal stripes and geometric shapes, the installer (as always), had to ensure consistent precision with the graphics line-up - though this time while installing overhead from the confined space of an elevated work platform.

When it comes to special projects and installs there are few obstacles that will dampen our enthusiasm – Tint Design welcomes a challenge!

The seasons are changing and soon our sunny days will be replaced with cold wintry ones. Suddenly the solar film you were so desperate for doesn't seem as important... until next summer!

With an increasing demand for multi-purposeful products, Tint Design has been hard at work in their R&D department to not only broaden our range of products and services available, but to also be able to offer the largest variety of finishing solutions to each of them.
As such, we have discovered that not only is solar film able to reduce heat, glare and UV within your fit-out, now there is the option to include printed solar film to your decorative interior design scope!

The unique effect of digitally printing onto solar film maximizes the "designable area" within your space to include the full area of flat glass in your windows.  This could mean a full cover design to mask an undesirable view, or a simple cut-away that carries a pattern or design concept through your fit-out with uninterrupted continuity.

We've got some samples ready to go but would be happy to provide a custom design sample of your choosing – when required solar film is a necessity but now you have to option to also make it a feature!

Just because it’s law it doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Safety Decals, Warning Bands, Compliance Decals - they have many names - though whatever you call them they are an opportunity not a hindrance.

The Australian Standard AS 1428.1-2009* states that;
“any glazing capable of being mistaken for a doorway or opening, shall be clearly marked for their full width with a solid and non-transparent contrasting line. The contrasting line shall be not less than 75 mm wide and shall extend across the full width of the glazing panel.
The lower edge of the contrasting line shall be located between 900 mm and 1000 mm above the plane of the finished floor level.
Any contrasting line on the glazing shall provide a minimum of 30% luminance contrast when viewed against the floor surface or surfaces within two meters of the gazing on the opposite side.”

While it has been a trend in years gone by to slap up some 75mm frost decals throughout a new build just because it’s a ‘safe’ choice in both design and (what used to be) compliance, it doesn’t mean you have to follow the crowd… 2017 is the year to be bold!

Since the rules have become much stricter in regard to the 30% contrast between your decal colour and the background colour, Tint Design has put together a series of free designs to add interest to your new build or fit-out, and our Safety Decal designs are compliant when precision cut from a solid vinyl or digitally printed in the appropriately contrasting colour to a solid, frost, or optically clear film.

It would be easy to talk all day about the endless possibilities when it comes to Safety Decals but I guess the ultimate point in both life and building compliance is, when you follow the crowd you’re wasting your opportunity to stand out!

a classic installation

When telling people what we do at Tint Design we are often told how lucky we are to work in such a fun and interesting environment. However this week, the shoe was on the other foot as we dressed up the new Shannons’ offices and auction house in Heatherton.
With a newly refurbished illuminated pylon sign out the front it’s unlikely that any of the bidders to their Late Summer Auction (27/02/17) will be unable to find them. Internally, Shannons required some simple precision-cut black vinyl warning decals to all the offices as well as a large logo media wall within the auction house (an installation that seemed to drag out as the installers became distracted looking at all the beautiful classic and vintage cars that will soon be up for sale).
It may have only been for a small time, but we definitely shared the passion with Shannons and it was a great ‘day in the office’ working on this project!
